The Butler boys and girls bowling team opened the season strong at Family Bowlaway by sweeping Mars 7-0.
Nick Huff led the Golden Tornado’s boys with a 662 series and a 247 high game. Hunter Lefever and Jordan Reges, who had a 616 series and high game of 236, also bowled well for Butler (1-0).
Kyle Barnes led Mars with a 518 series and 191 high game.
On the girls’ side, sophomore Ashley McCue led Butler with a 551 series and top game of 202.
Nicole Nebel also had a high game of 204 for the Golden Tornado, while Mercedes Belch rolled a 520 series.

Matt Wetzel and Shawn Marcellus both rolled a 603 series to lift the Butler boys bowling team to a 5-2 victory over Seneca Valley at Family Bowlaway Wednesday afternoon.
The effort helped the Golden Tornado improve to 4-1.
Seneca Valley’s Jonathan Elluinger led all bowlers with a 667 series and single game of 269.
Butler’s girls rolled to a 7-0 sweep of the Raiders, with Megan Paul scoring a 559 series and high game of 199. Baylee Verner added a 554 series and high game of 198 for the Tornado (5-0).

The Butler Girls were led by MiKayla White who rolled a 576 series with games of 175-207-194.

The Butler Boys won the three game total 2725 to 2368, and were led by Jacob Cookson who rolled a 621 series and a high game of 269. Matthew Wetzel added a 576 series and games of 195-177-204. Cody Rosenbauer had a high game of 209. Andrew Barron added a 192.
The Butler Girls won the three game total 2355 to 1700, and were led by MiKayla White who rolled a 569 series including a high game of 244. Ciara Pellegrini had a high game of 182. Abby Bagley had a high game of the night with a 175. Kelly Bintrim had games of 174 and 170. Baylee Verner had a 170 game.
Both Butler teams are now 4-0 and will face Seneca Valley next Wednesday at Mars Lanes.

The boys JV team were led by Earl Tirk with a 616 series and high game of 232. Kyle Bintrim had a 578 and high game of 236.

The Butler high school bowling teams defeated Seneca Valley at Mars Lanes. The Butler Boys defeated Seneca Valley 6-1. (three game total was 3022-2546.) Sophomore Matthew Wetzel led Butler with a 682 series and high game of 268. Senior Garrett Sexton added games of 241 and 234 with a 613 series. The Butler Girls remained undefeated with a 7-0 win over Seneca Valley. Senior Kelly Bintrim led Butler with a 523 series and a high game of 221. Megan Paul had a high game of 180. Brianna Stivason added a 173. Seneca Valley's Haley Hardcastle had a 546 series with a high game of 200. Butler is now 5-0.
Junior Earl Tirk led the Butler Boys Junior Varsity with a 546 series with a high game of 196.

The Butler Bowling teams improved to 6-0 with victories over Mars.

The Butler Boys defeated Mars 7-0. (2490-2315 three game totals). Jake Cookson led Butler with a 557 series and a high game of 211. Garrett Sexton added a 231 game. Matt Wetzel had a 211.

The Butler Girls won 5-2 over Mars. Mars topped Butler by seven pins in the opening game. It was the first single-game loss of the season for the Tornado Girls, but they rebounded to win the three-game total by 287 pins. MiKayla White led Butler with a 493 series. Megan Paul added a 485 series.
Kelly Bintrim had a 475 series.

For the Junior Varsity, Hunter Lefever rolled a 204 game. Dan Bellis rolled a 203 game.
Nick Bonomo had a 201.

The Butler Boys defeated Armstrong 7-0. (three game total 3223-2591). Jacob Cookson led Butler with a 744 series on games of 235-268-241. Garrett Sexton added a 677 series and a 236 high game. Cody Rosenbauer had a 626 series and high game of 234. Matt Wetzel had a 609 series. Jared Shaner led Armstrong with a 583 series.

The Butler Girls defeated Armstrong 5-2. (three game total 2493-2339). Megan Paul led Butler with a 581 series and a high game of 226. Alexa Edmonds led Armstrong with a 522 series and high game of 238.
Both Butler teams improved to 7-0. The Armstrong teams fell to 5-2. Butler will travel to Karns City next Wednesday.

The JV Boys were led by Dan Bellis who rolled a 619 series and a high game of 235. Andrew Barron added a 223 game. Kyle Bintrim and Hunter Lefever each had a 200.

The JV Girls were led by Abby Bagley who rolled a 492 series and had a high game of 214.

The Boys team will send all five starters to the Western Pennsylvania Singles Regional, and compete in the Team Regional at North Versailles Bowl

The Butler High Golden Tornado Bowling teams started their North division
title defense tonight with wins over visiting Seneca Vally.

The Butler girls and boys varsity teams both won 7-0 and won the section point to start the season 1-0 in the North section of the WPIBL. The WPIBL has 47 high schools throughout the Pittsburgh area and Butler is the North division with Seneca Vally, Knoch, Karns City, Mars and North Allegheny.

This is the first match for the newly formed Seneca Vally team under the direction of Head Coach Terry Cochrin.

The Butler boys were led by Co Capt Brandt Fleming with a 663 series (224-206-233). And the Girls by Co Captains Autumn Hepler 577 (186-165-226) and Brea Suchonic 573 (234-163-176).

The Butler High Golden Tornado bowling teams run their season record 2-0 with a wins over the Mars Planets.

Leading the way for the boys was Jacob Cookson with a 649 series (278-197-174) and Matthew Blose 605 (211-215-179). The Tornado boys came out of the gate fast with an 1103 opening game, that also is a team high for the year. Matthew Blose (211) Zack Sexton (166) Cody Rosembauer (213) Brandt Fleming (235) and Jacob Cookson (278). They followed that up with 919 and 912 for a 7-0 win.
The Planets were led by strong performances by Justin Schell, Josh Bartly and Eric Barnes.

The Tornado girls continue their winning ways with a 7-0 win. Brea Suchonic led the way with a high game of 237 in game 2 with with help from Autumn Hepler (200) and Megan Paul (199). The lady Planets were led by Karlee Arendt's high game of 181.

The Butler High Golden Tornado bowling teams beat North Allegheny in WPIBL action and improve their section
records for Boys and Girl varsity to 3-0.

The Tornado boys won their match 7-0 behind strong performances by Jacob Cookson (232-209-195=636 series), Matthew Blose (209-202-201=612) and Brandt Fleming (189-203-185=577). The Butler boys are now 3-0 and NA falls to 1-2 in section play. The JV boys were also on their game and won their match 7-0 and are also 3-0.

For the Tornado girls it was not so easy. They came out hot in the first game and won 910-798. But NA bounces back with a 929-831 win in game 2. Butler was holding onto a 14 pin lead after 2 games. In the third and final game the lead went back and forth the entire game and ended up a tie 888-888. With Butler winning the match 4-3 and the and the section point by 14 total pins. The Tornado girls were led by Megan Paul (200-186-212=598 series) and big games from Kelly Bintrim (246), Autumn Hepler (202) and Brea Suchonic (195). The girls are now 3-0 in section play. The NA girls were led by Bethany Schopper (180-191-234=605 series) and Marlee Tyler -167-200-176=543). The Tornado JV girls also won 5-2 and are 3-0 in section play this season. NA falls to 2-1 on the season.

The matches were close and down to the wire but the Tornados pulled through in the clutch.

The Varsity Boys lost the first game of the 3 game match but turned things around and won the second 2 games to win the match 5-2. The Tornado boys led by strong performances by Matthew Blose (234-235-165 = 634 series) and Garrett Sexton (184-192-248=624 series) are 3-0 this season in section play.

The Varsity Girls kept their winning streak alive with big night by Capt Brea Suchonic (254-194-172=620 series) and Kelly Bintrim (172-201-192=565 series). They also improve to 3-0 by winning the match 7-0. For NA Ryanne Tyler led the way with (254-170-190=614 series).

The JV Boys won their match 7-0 and are now 3-0 on the season. Strong games by Andrew Barron (235-175-172=582 series).

Butler hosted Karns City at FamilyBowlaway and won both the Varsity Boys and Girls matches and also the JV Boys and JV Girls matches 7-0.

The Varsity girls were led by strong performances by Nicole Balk (202-191-207=600 series) and Heather Paul (183-222-190=595 series). Karns City girls high bowlers were Nikki Ferris and Kristin Hepler.

Butler High Golden Tornado Bowlers keep on winning by defeating visiting New Castle 7-0 in all matches.
Both the Varsity Boys and Varsity Girls sweep their matches and improve to 6-0.

Leading the way for the Tornado boys once again was Sophomore Garrett Sexton (232-170-200=602 series). Garrett not only leads the team in average but is leading the section with a 200 average for 15 games. Matthew Blose and Jacob Cookson were other top contributors to the Tornados win. Top finishers for New Castle were Nathan Preisel and Nick Kingman.

For the lady Tornados it was Freshman Megan Paul (190-211-192=593) and Senior Nicole Balk (201-161-225=587) leading the charge. New Castle's high honors go to Autumn Taylor and Meya McKissick.

The JV boys were helped to their 7-0 win by a big game by Dan Bellis (248).

And the JV girls were led to their 7-0 win with help from Ciara Pellegrini with games of 205-194. Also chipping in was Kelly Bintrim with games of 183-187.

The Butler High Golden Tornado Varsity Bowling teams clinched playoff spots by beating visiting North Allegheny Wednesday night. Both the boys and girls varsity teams improve their records to 8-0 with 2 matches remaining in the regular season. Not only are they in the playoffs but they are also now qualified for the Western Pennsylvania Regional's to be held in March. The top 6 teams at Regional's will qualify for States.

The Butler boys won their match 5-2. The Tornados won the first game then lost game two but finished strong in game three to win the match. Top boys honors for the night went to Captain Brandt Fleming with 638 series and Jacob Cookson with 593 series.

The Tornado Girls also won 5-2. The girls had an early scare by losing the first game and turning it around to win the next two games and the match. Top girls honors go to Nicole Balk with a 552 series, Capt Brea Suchonic 550 series and Megan Paul 536 series.

The Butler JV boys won their match 7-0 and are also 8-0 for the season. The Tornado JV girls lost their first match of the season 5-2 and are 7-1 on the year.

The Butler High Golden Tornado Girls finish their season with a perfect 10 - 0 record by beating Knoch 7-0. This is the third straight season where the girls varsity team has gone 10-0. They are headed to the league playoffs next Thursday at Sims Lanes then on to the Western Pennsylvania Regional's in March. The team was led by seniors Nicole Balk (535 series) and Heather Paul (534 series) on their final regular season match. They were both honored before the match as our 2 graduating members. Top honor for Knoch goes to Erica Johns (590 series)

The Varsity boys were not so lucky falling the Knoch 5-2. This gave the playoff bound boys a 9-1 record and they will also be headed to Regional's in March. The boys top scorers were Jacob Cookson (555 series) and Brandt Fleming (530 series). Kevin Hindman was Knoch top roller with a (666 series). This win helped qualified Knoch (8-2) for the playoffs and Regional's.

The Butler High Golden Tornados finished of a great season by finishing in 4th place in the State Championships.

The Tornado girls were ranked 3rd after the qualifying round on a very difficult lane condition. The shot was very heavy and long oil making it a very tough scoring condition. Kelly Bintrim led the charge for Butler with a (561 series), Autumn Hepler (550 series), Brea Suchonic (508 series), Megan Paul (494 series) and Nicole Balk (449 series). Autumn Hepler also received the bronze metal for third high game (241) in the qualifying portion of the championships. The Tornado roster consisted of Captain Jr. Brea Suchonic, Sr. Nicole Balk, Sr. Heather Paul, Jr. Autumn Hepler, Sophomore Kelly Bintrim and Fr. Megan Paul and Mikayla White.

The top 4 teams made the championship playoff round and Butler (3rd ranked) faced Muhlenberg (4th ranked) in the first match in the step ladder finals. The match was a best of 3 baker games and Butler won the first game but fell to Muhlenberg in the next 2 games to finish 4th in the State. Muhlenberg then bowled Shikellamy (defending champions) in match 2 and Shikellamy won that match to face number 1 seed Hempfield for the title. Hempfield won game 1 and Shikellamy won the second game to force a winner take all final game. Hempfield came out on top 223 to 157 to win the State Championship. Congrats to Hempfield.

The Boys state champions are from Exeter High School (Berks County)

The Butler High Golden Tornado Bowling Teams
start the new season off on the right track.
Standings

The Butler High School Golden Tornado Bowling Teams finish the regular season with perfection going 10-0 in the North Section of the WPIBL. The Girls won 7-0 and the Boys 5-2 against host Karns City at Bruin Lanes.

This is the second straight 10-0 season for the Varsity Girls and runs there winning streak to 20 in there first 2 seasons. For the Boys this will be there first 10-0 season and there first trip to the playoffs. The boys league playoffs will be next Wednesday (2/23/11) at White Oak Bowl. The Girls playoffs will be held next Thursday (2/24/11) at Family Bowlaway here in Butler @ 3:30 PM.

Leading the way for the Tornado Girls was Autumn Hepler with (210-246-172=628 series) and Kelly Bintrim (176-225-166=562 series).

Taking the lead for the Boys was Nick Cooter (190-211-202=603 series) , Sam Weston (188-220-172=580 series) and Brandt Fleming (168-195-212=575 series). For Karns City Aaron Weckerly shot (186-191-219=596 series).

The Butler High School Golden Tornado bowling teams run there records to 9-0 and clinch the Section title. All 4 teams keep there perfect seasons alive with 7-0 wins against second place Shaler.

The Tornado Varsity Boys had a season high 3008 for a 3 game set with games of (1041-1008-959). Leading the way for the Tornado boys was Freshman, Braedyn Troyan who shot a personal high game and series (290-234-194=718 series). Braedyn was locked in right away starting the first game with a spare and then taking it off the sheet with 11 strikes in a row for his 290 game. Also having a good night was Sam Weston with a 591 series (229-189-173).

The Tornado Varsity Girls also had a star of there own in Kelly Bintrim, who shot a 616 series (191-171-254). Also adding to the winning totals were Nicole Balk (181-171-215=566 series) and Brea Suchonic (188-237-146=571 series).

Leading the way for the JV Boys was Cody Rosenbauer (211-197-214=622)

The Golden Tornados will close out there regular season next week at Karns City.

The Butler High Golden Tornado Bowling Teams clinched playoff spot with win over Mars. The Varsity Boys and Girls improve there season section records to 8-0 with 2 matches remaining. All 4 teams Varsity and JV, Boys and Girls won there matches 7-0.

With the wins both the Boys and Girls clinch a birth in the WPIBL playoff and it also qualifies them for the Western Pennsylvania Regional Playoffs. From the Regional's the top 6 teams move on to State Championships. Last year the Girls team made it to States and finished 6th.

The Butler High School Boys and Girls bowling teams are 2 - 0 to start the season. The Butler Varsity girls have now won 12 in a row dating back to last season. The Boys were led by a strong performance from Captain Nick Cooter (254-186-146 = 686 series). With a 2-0 start the boys are looking to better the 7-3 record from last year and just missed the playoffs. It's been a great start being 2 -0 for all 4 teams (Varsity and JV).

The Golden Tornados Varsity Boys and Girls teams improve there section records to 3 - 0 in the young season.
The JV Boys and JV Girls also win moving to 3 -0.

The Varsity Boys were led by a strong performance by Brandt Fleming. Brandt had the first 9 strikes in the first game that led to a 278 and he ended the night with a 654 series (278-185-191). Braedyn Troyan also chipped in with a 602 series. The boys shot a season high 3 game total of 2986 (1074-1021-890).

The Golden Tornado Varsity Girls were on a roll of there own led by a 673 series by Nicole Balk. Along with Autumn Hepler's 580 and Heather Paul's 562 the girls shot there season high of 2830 (924-872-1034).

The JV teams had standouts of there own. For the JV Boys Travis Hoffman (223-187-204) 614 series and Matthew Blose had a (159-188-235) 582 series. And for the JV Girls Brittney Buzard had a 221-190 in the JV match and a 185 game in the Varsity match for a 596 series.

The Tornado Girls Varsity improve to 4 - 0 and were led by Brea Suchonic firing a 730 (3 game series of 237-244-249). Also burning it up for the girls was Nicole Balk shooting her second straight 600 series with a 602 set (208-223-171). The Varsity Girls also topped last weeks high 3 game set by shooting 2886 (890-1047-949) a 192 average per girl for 15 total games.

The Varsity Boys also improve there record to 4 - 0 by winning. Helping to lead the boys to victory was Jacob Cookson with a 676 series with games of 237-205-234. The third game in the match was a close one but the boys marked in 19 of there last 20 frames to pull ahead to stay.

Leading the way for the 4 -0 JV Boys was Matthew Blose with 627 series (204-205-218). And for the 4 -0 JV girls it was Shilo Warren with a 511 series (138-171-202).

The Butler Tornado Bowling Teams swept Karns City. The Tornado Varsity boys victory kept their playoff hopes alive.Their record now stands at 6-3. The boys must win all four games against Shaler to advance to the League Championships.

The Tornado girls kept their record perfect at 9-0.
Their playoff season starts February 25th at Crafton-Ingrem Lanes.

The Butler High Golden Tornado's Varsity Girls bowling team finished their inaugural season undefeated with a (7-0) win against Shaler. The Girls finish their regular season with a 10-0 record, and Captain Hope Griffith will lead them playoffs. The Girls have also qualified for the Western Pennsylvania Regional Championship to be held March 13th in North Versailles.

The Tornado Varsity Boys also finished their season with a (4-3) win over Shaler. In the process they shot season high game of 1117 (223 average for each boy). Boys finish their season with a (7-3) record and just missed the playoffs. The Boys actually tied for the final playoff spot at (7-3) but lost out to Shaler due to the tie breakers.

The Tornado JV Girls also finished their season with a perfect 10-0 record.

The Tornado JV Boys lost their opening match of the season, then ran the table by winning their next 9 matches and finishing 9-1.
