Butler wrestlers 2nd at Ringgold


Josh Pascazi went 5-0 and improved his season record to 25-5 as the Butler varsity wrestling team went 4-1 and finished in second place at the Ringgold Duals on Saturday.
Pascazi (152 pounds) now has 85 career wins and moves into fourth place on the Golden Tornado's all-time list.
Butler began the day by defeating McGuffey (42-27) before losing to eventual champion Hempfield (48-16).
The Tornado rebounded with three straight wins over Charleroi (68-9), Fox Chapel (44-25) and Norwin (66-19).
Cole Baxter went 4-1, with all four wins coming by pinfall.
Other Butler wrestlers who went 4-1 on the day included Mike Crawford, Jon Sanko, Alex Evanoff (91 career wins, third all-time) and Marino Quercio.
Butler (20-3) will travel to Kiski Area for a WPIAL Class AAA first-round team playoff showdown at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
The winner of that match will face the survivor of North Allegheny/Hopewell at 8 p.m. the same night.
Butler's final home match of the season will take place Wednesday against Plum, with a Senior Night ceremony beginning at 6:45 p.m.
